Dennis McCarty, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University.  He collaborates with policy makers in state and federal government and with community based programs to examine the organization, financing, and quality of publicly funded prevention and treatment services for alcohol and drug disorders. He is the Principal Investigator for the Oregon/Hawaii Node of the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network (funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse) and the national evaluation for the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse).  Between 1989 and 1995, Dr. McCarty directed the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. His PhD in Social Psychology is from the University of Kentucky.
